The rationing, caused by expansion and drought, would be a disaster for the internet casinos in Macau.

The internet gambling problem stems from reservoirs across the border in Zhuhai, China that have been severely impacted by drought.

Years of mismanagement and pollution are now impacting China’s freshwater supplies, the report explained.

The moves comes a week after Missouri gaming officials said they were investigating Lee’s actions at a zoning meeting by the St. Louis County Council, where he reportedly threatened a commissioner.

Pinnacle operates two riverboat casino gambling in St. Louis, the $407 million Lumiere Place hotel-casino and the President. The company also is building a $400 million hotel-casino complex in the St. Louis suburbs.

In a statement, the company said Lee resigned “to pursue other business interests.”

Lee took over Pinnacle earlier this decade and moved the casino operator’s headquarters from Southern California to Las Vegas. He led the company’s expansive growth over the last few years, which included building Las Vegas-style casinos in Missouri and Louisiana.

Two former Las Vegas gaming executives serving on the company’s board of directors, will take over the company on an interim basis.

Former Aladdin and Harrah’s executive Richard Goeglein has been named interim nonexecutive chairman and former Las Vegas Hilton President John Giovenco has been named interim chief executive officer.

Goeglein and Giovenco will oversee the company’s operations while the board conducts an executive search for a new president and chief executive officer.

A recent voter approved ban on dog racing and online casinos threatens the tracks from Jan 1, 2010, unless patrons can wager on races broadcast from other internet gambling tracks.

1,300 employees face job loss in January, the report said.

Resorts World Sentosa will open in January 2010 to take internet casinos advantage of holidaymakers during Chinese New Year celebrations, Reuters said.

Allied Veterans of the World, which has had Internet cafes shut down in Seminole, Marion, Jackson and Pinellas counties, challenged the law in the state capital, reports the Orlando Sentinel newspaper, hoping for a ruling that would finally settle a long-running issue with enforcement agencies.

The non-profit group raises money for veterans’ causes, using a loophole in the state’s sweepstakes law to operate about 25 cafes around the state.

Starting in August this year, various centres were raided by police, disrupting business and spurring the Allied Veterans to turn to the courts for relief.

But Circuit Court Judge Jackie L. Fulford ruled that each sheriff in Florida is a local official and not an arm of the state - that means Allied Veterans of the World must pursue its challenge piecemeal in individual counties.

Allied Veterans of the World has other legal problems with which it has to contend; the Jacksonville Greyhound Racing Inc., which operates the Jacksonville Kennel Club, Orange Park Kennel Club and a poker room at the St. Johns Greyhound Park is launching litigation seeking to shut down the internet casinos, with damages and costs.

“This was Allied Veterans’ attempt to pick a forum to somehow have its practices declared lawful,” said attorney Michael Freed. “Now that their attempt has failed, Allied Veterans will have to continue to defend the lawsuit that our client has brought to declare their practices illegal.”

The lawsuit, filed in circuit court in Jacksonville in August, claims that Allied Veterans of the World is in violation of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and Florida’s Civil Remedies for Criminal Practices Act. The lawsuit also maintains that Allied Veterans’ establishments are a common nuisance under Florida Statutes.
