Massachusetts dog tracks may get reprieve on betting

December 27, 2009

State dog tracks may get a break if online gambling legislation allowing them to operate as off-track betting parlors is approved, the Boston Herald reported today.

A recent voter approved ban on dog racing and online casinos threatens the tracks from Jan 1, 2010, unless patrons can wager on races broadcast from other internet gambling tracks.

1,300 employees face job loss in January, the report said.
